Who is responsible

Kai Kameyama is the developer of Kira and the contact responsible for the information described in this policy. In this policy, “Kira,” “we,” and “us” refer to Kai Kameyama and the Kira app and website. Kira helps you learn Korean Hangul through lessons, writing practice, review, and widgets. Learning information on your device

Kira does not require a Kira account. Your learning preferences, progress, review history, writing results, study streaks, reminder settings, and widget settings are stored on your device. The app shares a local learning snapshot with its widget extension so widgets can display relevant Korean content and open learning activities. If you allow optional analytics, Kira sends selected learning activity to PostHog, such as the study item or reading prompt identifier, response category, completion counts, and session duration. It does not upload drawn stroke paths or a copy of your local study database. Optional learning events include correct and incorrect answers, retries, whether a hint was used, foreground learning time, and entry from a widget. Saved custom word text and typed answers are not sent. Analytics profiles may include the app's latest known subscription state and selected subscription plan; this device snapshot can lag behind the billing provider.

Your device settings and backups may retain copies of local data. Deleting the app and restoring a device backup can affect which local information remains available. Apple controls its device backup services under your Apple account settings and its own terms.

Product analytics and tracking

With your permission, Kira uses PostHog, hosted in the United States, to understand onboarding completion, paywall views, purchase outcomes, and learning activity. Events include a random app-scoped identifier, timestamps, and basic app and device information. This identifier lets us measure returning app usage. With your analytics permission, Kira supplies the identifier to RevenueCat so subscription events can be associated with your app activity in PostHog. We do not supply your name or email address. We do not enable session replay or automatic recording of screen contents and taps. Onboarding analytics records the step visited or completed, not your age or personalization answers. IP-based location enrichment is disabled in the SDK event configuration; network requests still expose your IP address to the receiving service. It does not use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising. Analytics is off until you choose “Allow analytics.” Choosing “No thanks” does not limit access to Kira or Kira Pro. You can enable or withdraw permission at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share product analytics. Withdrawing permission stops future app product-interaction analytics and discards queued app events on your device. It does not recall requests already sent or delete records already received by PostHog. Contact privacy support to request deletion of previously collected data. If you enable sharing again, Kira starts a new app-scoped analytics identity.

If you shared information through an earlier version of Kira and have a privacy or deletion request, contact us. You do not need an analytics identifier to contact us, although we may need additional information to locate records and verify a request.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store payments. Kira does not receive your full payment-card information. RevenueCat processes an app-scoped anonymous customer identifier, product and transaction information, and subscription and entitlement status to validate purchases, provide and restore Kira Pro access, and report subscription activity. Kira does not supply RevenueCat with your name, email address, or an advertising identifier through the app.

If you allow analytics, PostHog receives app paywall and purchase outcome events with product and offering identifiers. Separately, RevenueCat forwards subscription lifecycle events, such as trials, renewals, cancellations, expirations, billing issues, and revenue, to PostHog for subscription reporting. This server-side subscription reporting operates independently of the optional app analytics setting. When you allow analytics, these events can be joined to app activity using the PostHog identifier supplied to RevenueCat. Withdrawing app analytics permission removes that association for future reporting once the change reaches RevenueCat; subscription reporting may continue under the RevenueCat app-scoped identifier. Apple and RevenueCat remain responsible for payment processing and entitlement validation. Apple and RevenueCat may retain transaction records after the app is deleted, including records used for purchase restoration and their legal obligations. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings. Deleting Kira does not cancel an active subscription.

Notifications and pronunciation

Kira asks for notification permission when you choose to enable reminders. Review reminders, reading challenges, and applicable trial reminders use the device's notification system. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and change available reminder options in Kira. Pronunciation playback uses Apple's speech functionality for the Korean learning text. Kira does not record your microphone or upload voice recordings for pronunciation practice.

Support requests

If you email us, we receive the contact information and message contents you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request and address support, privacy, or purchase questions. Please do not send payment-card details or other information that is unnecessary for your request.

Website and service providers

Kira's public website is hosted by Vercel. The hosting service may process request information, such as an IP address, browser information, requested pages, and timestamps, to deliver and protect the website.

The services involved in the current app and website include Apple for distribution, payments, and device services, RevenueCat for purchase management and subscription reporting, PostHog for product analytics, and Vercel for website hosting. These services have their own privacy terms for information they process. Providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Retention and your choices

Local learning information remains subject to your device, app, and backup settings. Records held by PostHog, Apple, RevenueCat, website hosting, and support services have retention requirements and controls separate from the app's local learning storage. Contact us to ask about information associated with a support or privacy request, including information supplied through an earlier version.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; or to complain to a data-protection authority. We may need information sufficient to verify and respond to your request. You can also manage notification permission in iOS Settings and purchases or subscriptions through your Apple account.

Children

Kira is a general-audience learning app and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and address the request.
