Privacy Policy
Effective and Last Updated: July 24, 2026
Who Is Responsible for Your Information
Kai Kameyama, the developer of Kira, is responsible for the information described in this policy. In this policy, "Kira," "we," and "us" refer to Kai Kameyama and the Kira app and website.
Information Stored on Your Device
Kira does not require an account. Your learning preferences, progress, review history, writing-practice results, streaks, reminders, and widget settings are primarily stored locally on your device and may be included in your device backups.
Deleting Kira removes its local data unless iOS or a device backup retains a copy. Restoring a backup may restore that local data.
Optional Product Analytics
Kira asks for your permission before enabling product analytics. If you agree, Kira uses PostHog, Inc. to process the following information:
- Random app installation, device, session, and onboarding-session identifiers.
- App version, build, platform, device model and type, iOS version, screen dimensions, locale, time zone, and network connection type.
- App lifecycle events, such as installation, update, opening, and backgrounding.
- Onboarding choices and progress, feature interactions, experiment assignments, review and practice events, item identifiers, response outcomes, and aggregate study statistics.
- Paywall views, selected product identifiers, trial and purchase-flow events, and whether a purchase succeeded or failed.
Kira does not send your name, email address, advertising identifier, payment-card details, free-form content, or session recordings to PostHog. Screen-view autocapture, element-interaction autocapture, person profiles, and session replay are disabled.
We use analytics only to understand how Kira is used, evaluate onboarding and product features, measure purchase funnels, and improve the app. We do not use analytics for advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell analytics information.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Apple processes payments made through the App Store. Kira does not receive your full payment-card information. RevenueCat processes app-scoped customer identifiers, product and transaction information, subscription status, and entitlement information so Kira can complete purchases, restore purchases, and unlock paid features.
Website Information
Kira's website is hosted by Vercel. When you visit the website, Vercel may process request information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security or diagnostic logs to deliver and protect the website. Kira does not use this website information for targeted advertising.
Legal Basis and Consent
Where consent is required, Kira processes optional product analytics only after you choose "Share optional analytics." You can withdraw that consent at any time in Kira under Settings, Privacy & Analytics. Turning analytics off stops future analytics collection but does not automatically delete information already collected.
We process purchase information to provide the subscription or purchase you request. We may also process limited information when necessary to comply with law, protect Kira and its users, respond to support requests, or maintain the security and reliability of the service.
Service Providers
Kira uses the following service providers:
- Apple for App Store distribution, payments, subscriptions, and device services.
- RevenueCat for purchase, subscription, and entitlement management.
- PostHog for optional product analytics and feature experiments.
- Vercel for website hosting, delivery, and security.
These providers process information on Kira's behalf or under their own terms when they independently provide services to you, such as Apple's payment services.
International Data Transfers
PostHog analytics for Kira is hosted in the United States, and Kira's other providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or another legally recognized transfer mechanism.
Retention
- Product analytics is retained for no longer than 12 months unless a shorter period is required or you request deletion. Aggregated or de-identified insights that no longer identify an installation may be retained longer.
- Local learning information remains on your device until you delete it, delete the app, or restore a different backup.
- Purchase and transaction records may be retained by Apple and RevenueCat as required for billing, fraud prevention, accounting, support, and legal obligations.
- Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond and maintain necessary business records.
Your Choices and Rights
- Enable or disable product analytics at any time under Settings, Privacy & Analytics.
- View and copy your app-scoped analytics ID from the same settings screen.
- Manage notifications in Kira or iOS Settings and manage subscriptions through your Apple account.
- Request access to or deletion of analytics associated with your analytics ID by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy of information, or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need information sufficient to verify and complete your request.
Children
Kira is a general-audience learning app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to Kira, contact us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Kira changes or legal requirements evolve. We will update the date above when changes are published and provide additional notice when required.
Contact
Questions, privacy requests, and analytics-deletion requests can be sent to moji.app.help@gmail.com. Include the analytics ID shown in Kira under Settings, Privacy & Analytics when asking us to locate or delete analytics.
